Latest Neighborhood 3 Rep News
The latest info from the Rep and the ORHA General Meetings is that Decca is going to allow neighborhoods without neighborhood signs to get one, using Decca's sign maker, however, each neighborhood must raise the money to pay for their sign. Decca would install and maintain it. If you are interested in donating to help purchase a neighborhood sign, please call Ellie at 237-3135 or Mary at 854-7749. The price of a neighborhood sign is $469. So far, we have received calls from 6 people who are interested. There will be a Country Fair, sponsored by the ORHA Board, on Friday, April 11th. Tickets will be sold by the Reps in March for $2 apiece. These tickets may be used for 5 games, various foods, etc. There will be more news about the fair in the Oak Run Newsletter.
Several people throughout Oak Run have received letters from Progress Energy about new transmission lines which might be running through their property. There are two possible corridors--a northern one close to Oak Run and a southern one which would not affect Oak Run. Several residents and board members attended a meeting in Dunnellon on Feb. 7th and asked that they use the southern corridor.
It was mentioned at the December Rep meeting that the Emergency Fire and Rescue people have informed us that it is very important that residents in Oak Run have a large name sign and house numbers attached to mail and cubby posts in front of your property. If you are a short term RENTER, then the owner must install these items in their name. This requirement is also in the DECCA Covenants and Restrictions. Please address this issue as soon as possible so that DECCA doesn’t have to.
Again, we thank you for taking care of these issues. We want our lovely neighborhood to look as beautiful as you do.

Latest ORHA General Meeting News
Progress Energy will be coming to Oak Run to make a presentation at the next General Meeting on March 24 at 7 pm. A committee has been set up to publicize this meeting and possibly start a petition which would be presented to Progress Energy at this meeting. We get no electricity from Progress Energy since SECO does not buy from them.
There will be a Community Fair, sponsored by ORHA, on April 11th. If anyone has suggestions for activities, games, etc., please call any board member.
There was also a question about the Cost of Living increase on the amenities bills, because it was 3.2 %, when Social Security increased by 2.3%. Jim Bell will address that issue next month.
Bill Pascoe explained the difference in the Cost of Living increase in Soc. Sec. and the increase in our amenities. Social Security uses the CPI from the 3rd Quarter (which was 2.4%) Decca uses the one from Oct. (which was 3.5%). Bill said that it evens out through the years, as he took an average of each for the last 10 yrs. and the figures were almost the same.
The phone book is being updated through the end of February with the hope of having the new book ready in June. If any of you would like your number or a change in your listing, please call John McHale at 291-2602. If anyone would like an Oak Run phone directory, we have some extras. Please call Mary at 854-7749 or Ellie at 237-3135.
Decca is asking that you do not park on the grass along the boulevard if there are spaces in the Orchid Club parking lot or the Overflow lot. Also, the parking lots by the sales offices can be used near the shuffleboard courts, especially after hours.
Jim Connely from The Reach Out Program asked for more volunteer drivers for taking residents to the doctor; and someone who could answer Medicare questions. If you know someone who lives alone, and could benefit from their Call-A-Day service, please call Jim at 237-7782.
